I am a published, international award-winning modern quilter, quilt designer and teacher. I love quilting and I love teaching others to quilt. My work features innovative approaches, original designs and technical mastery. My goal is innovation, my passion is creativity and my gift is having opportunities to share new techniques with others in the quilting community.

I bring over a decade of quilting experience to the classroom and I value creating a supportive atmosphere. I have taught basic, intermediate and advanced levels. My students would describe me as knowledgeable, well organized, positive and caring, but most of all an incredibly patient teacher. The Flower Garden Workshop

This workshop honours the tradition and beauty of the English Paper Pieced Flower Garden Block, but with an innovative twist and modern aesthetic. Students will experience design in a fresh new way while creating a stunning 20- inch by 20-inch modern mini quilt/wall hanging.

To participate, students will have to make in advance of the workshop, a minimum of 12 Flower Garden Blocks, using the one-inch hexagon. (The one-inch size hexagon is the measurement of one side of the hexagon and one completed hexagon measures 2 ¼ inches wide). While choosing fabric for your Flowers Garden Blocks keep in mind the background fabric is white.

It is crucial to the design, the centres of the Flower Garden Blocks are all solid black, but you have the freedom to choose solids or prints in any colour way you prefer! I encourage you to make a few extra so you can audition your colours while designing your quilt top.

In the morning students will prepare and cut their fabrics and learn the foundation of design while cutting and basting the flower blocks in a fun new way, followed by piecing together their quilt top. In the afternoon students will continue building their design and have time for a combination of top stitching with the walking foot along with free motion quilting to finish their quilt in their own unique way.

For this workshop students will need a standard presser foot, ¼ inch presser foot, and walking foot. A free motion quilting foot is optional for this class. This is a full day workshop and would require students to be setup for a 9:30 start time and will be finishing just before 5:00.

Course fee for full day workshop is $500, plus travel expenses, with a maximum of 15 students. Following confirmation, I will provide a complete list of supplies to bring to workshop. Kits are available and will be provided for a $35 fee. The 20-inch by 20-inch piece created in class can be made into a small wallhanging or pillow cover, or incorporated into a larger piece.

Cityscape Improv Workshop

The Cityscape Quilt has won Best Machine Quilting Frameless at QuiltCon 2020.

In this class students will learn a new approach to deconstructing/improv strip piecing and create a late summer’s eve cityscape, including bright lights, dark sky’s and modern tower blocks, filling this quilt in a modern way with a new approach to quilting I call Overlay Quilting.

In the morning students will explore value, learn how to Improv strip-piece and build dark sky’s and modern tower blocks and will complete making their quilt top. In the afternoon students will learn several modern quilting motifs including grid work, matchstick and overlay quilting. This workshop provides a great space for exploring freedom of choice. All students are encouraged to work past the guidelines and create a one of a kind 18-inch square modern quilt.

For this workshop students will need a standard presser foot, ¼ inch presser foot, and walking foot. A free motion quilting foot is optional for this class. This is a full day workshop and would require students to be setup for a 9:30 start time and will be finishing just before 5:00.

Hover-quilting Workshop

Hover-quilting is a new form of raw edge appliqué, absent of fusible web. This innovative technique produces not only a beautiful controlled frayed edge, but also creates the illusion of Half Square Triangles hovering above the black background.

In this class students will move colour like never before! using HST’s in a new way to create several design elements such as ‘Cathedral Window’, ‘Pathways’, ‘Lattice Work”, and a ‘School of Fabric’. In the morning students will focus on preparing their quilt sandwich and make 36 HST’s and in the afternoon will complete a 15-inch square mini hover-quilt and while doing so will learn the unique design elements that make this technique so versatile and creative.

For this workshop students will need a standard presser foot, ¼ inch presser foot, and walking foot. A free motion quilting foot is optional. This is a full day workshop and would require students to be setup for a 9:30 start time and will finish just before 5:00.
