Trans-ACTION

Trans Rights are Human Rights!!!

This quilt is titled Trans-ACTION and is a call to action to support our Transgender community, specifically Transgender children.

Trans-ACTION was included in a special exhibit for queer artists in The Road to California Quilt Show.

40 years ago, when I came out as young gay man, society allowed it to be brutal and unsafe.

If you find this appalling and think we are doing any better, 40 years later, the same thing is now happening to our Transgender youth.

Trans children and youth are being bashed, beaten, hospitalized, traumatized and are dying at an alarming rate and society is letting this happen.

These violent acts of hatred towards a trans person is called Transphobia. Trans youth are being beaten to death, yet few seem to be concerned.

We all need to step up in support and be willing to talk to our friends and family when you hear someone voicing their opinion in a hatful or harmful way.

Meaningful change happens one conversation at a time, so please make your conversation matter.

Trans Flag

The backing fabric on this quilt is a replica of the Trans Flag and contains 3 colours, white, pink and light blue. When you see this flag in an article read it and educate yourself to become proactive.
