Regeneration

Regeneration was juried into Quilt Canada 2023.

This quilt is a representational view of the regeneration of hope, growing in Ukraine.

Regeneration was juried into Quilt Canada 2023.

The divide between light and dark is Ukraine pushing back against the Russian occupancy and reclaiming their land and country.

The red, orange and yellow is the glow of bombing and the blue, green and turquoise is a darkened country under siege, yet triumphant.

Each brightly coloured square represents a loss of life, a fallen soldier floating away, deserving of peace.

The cross’s are the unification of our sounds where our spirituality intersects as sisters and brothers of one universe.

Amongst the rubble, a sprouting fern, growing strong despite it’s desperate surroundings, all inspiring as Mother Nature reclaims the earth.

A single seed sprouts new life and starts the miracle of Regeneration!

This was my first time collaborating with a long-arm machine quilter. I would like to give a special thank you to Cathie Giambalvo for creating such beautiful, detailed quilting that truly brought this quilt to life.
