Quilt Canada 2023 was a very special experience for me! It was my first time attending Quilt Canada in-person while having quilts juried into the show.
It was a goal of mine to have quilts juried into the show, so I went through the online application process and a few weeks later I received an email informing me I had 8 quilts juried into the show.
I was thrilled to say the least and immediately started planning my trip to Halifax to attend the show in-person. A few more weeks went by and I receive another email informing me I would be receiving a ribbon at the Awards Ceremony, so now I’m super excited!
I arrived early and was so excited to sit with my quilting friends at the Awards Ceremony. I asked one of my friends who knows everything about everything if I would be winning more than one award and her response was “You will be very happy this evening”.
It was time to announce the 3rd place winner in the Modern Category and my quilt titled Wedding Ring wins 3rd place.
This was followed by announcing the 2nd place winner in the Modern Category and my quilt titled Spool Dash wins 2nd place.
And finally it was time to announce the 1st place winner in the Modern Category and my quilt titled Puzzle wins 1st place! This was such an amazing achievement that I never saw coming.
This was defiantly one for the record books as no one in the 40 year history of Quilt Canada had swept an entire category taking home all three awards.
This was such an honour, thank you Quilt Canada for this wonderful experience of a life time!
