Cube Squared

Cube Squared was juried into Quilt Canada 2023.

This quilt is titled Cube Squared and measures 66 inches square.

The concept for this quilt was to make a giant sized replica of the small squares that are the foundation of the design. I hope that makes sense, like a square inside a square, inside another square.

Cube Squared was juried into QuiltCon 2023 and Quilt Canada 2023.

To get Cube Square started, I strip pieced together 225, 4 inch blocks using Northcotts premium solids called Colorworks.

Since starting to do long-arm quilting on my Bernina Q-24, I have been making a series of small practice quilts to start building up my skills.

Before quilting Cube Squared, I made a baby sized quilt to practice my quilting motifs for this quilt and I’m so happy I did this.

Cube Squared is my first quilt I have quilted on my long-arm that is (almost) mistake free and I’m very proud of the workmanship that has gone into creating this Contemporary piece of ART.

A special thank you to Hobb’s Batting for suppling the Hobbs Poly-Down premium polyester batting for this quilt.

I love how easy this batting was to work with and I love the lofty finish! Thank you Steph, you are the best!
