Lollipops & Ice Cream Cones

This child’s quilt is called Lollipops and Ice Cream Cones and was made for a child survivor. This quilts was a gift to a young child in Australia, who lost everything due to the devastating bushfires, we all saw on the news.

My quilting time for the month of January 2020, was spent designing and creating Lollipops and Ice Cream Cones. Staring off the year making a charity quilt felt right to me. After having so many wonderful experiences in 2019, within the quilting community, I felt very inspired to give back.

This gender neutral quilt measures 60 inches wide and 70 inches tall, and was constructed using the @hoverquilting technique which creates a beautiful frayed edge; a comforting texture for a child’s quilt.

The colourful fabric is a Robert Kaufman digital panel called Effervescents, and the quilting motifs were created using hand guided rulers and walking foot.

When I was at QuiltCon, I meet a woman from Australia that helped find a home for this quilt. After making the arrangements, I boxed it up and happily shipped it to its new owner!

  3. This is an incredible quilt. Your heart and generosity in wanting to gift it to a child in Australia is beautiful. You remind me of the generosity and heart shown to all during the Okanagan Mountain Fire and every Canadian disaster since.
